“Why Won’t You Let Me Love You”
“Why Won’t You Let Me Love You” is the forthcoming release from award
winning, Welsh songwriters, Darren Parry and Gavin Clifton (Clifton
Music). The song is an upbeat but reflective, anthemic, catchy, Electro -
Pop/RnB tune that is so infectious, one listen and you can immediately
sing the chorus back to yourself! Two listens… you’ll be singing it all
day!
The track features Darren on lead vocals/backing vocals/keyboards and Al
Steele of Shabbey Road Studios on all other instruments/backing vox.
Produced at Shabbey Road by Darren, Gavin and Al Steele the song is
perfectly in keeping with the current contemporary Electro – Pop/RnB scene
and would not be out of place on a Bruno Mars, Calum Scott or Olly Murs
record. The song is laden with hooks (and hooks within hooks) perfectly
displayed in the chorus which uses modern techniques to give impact to the
vocals on Darren’s dynamic 3 and a half octave vocal range! The middle 8
could be mistaken for a Max Martin production with Katy Perry -esque
“Chained To The Rhythm” low pass filters giving a modern twist to a
breakdown section.
Darren and Gavin have been aware of each other for some time on the South
Wales songwriting scene and met a few times at the recording studio before
deciding to work together on this track. The track was written remarkably
in one song-writing session of only about an hour. More remarkable is that
Gavin was born with a condition called cerebral palsy, and also has a
speech impediment. Gavin however never lets his condition stop him from
writing great music and he’s even started a record company…Clifton Music!
